AB2CSV App Reviews

Works fine. OK to buy.

Nothing wrong with this tool. A big time saver for a buck. Importing CSV into Excel takes some finesse, but thats not the problem of the tool. I did not realize it exported VCF as well. A nice bonus. Thanks to the author.

Didn

Successfully exported vcf -- but the file couldnt be uploaded to gmail, which was my objective (*direct vcf export from apple address book also failed, so maybe this isnt a fault with the app). Tried to export to CSV, however, and the app crashes every time.

Couldnt be easier

This app is fabulous - it does what it claims to, and does a terrific job. Thanks, Antonio!

Requires giving up Address Book privacy

I found this in a search for a VCF to CSV converter. I know how to export from Address Book/Contacts to VCF, and I want to change the VCF to CSV for import into OpenOffice. But it will not work with the VCF file; it wants to have access to my whole AB/C database. No way! I dont know where its going to send that information.

Check the Preferences!!!

I came to review this with an "ok" rating. Had I taken the few seconds to explore it better, I would have realized that I could export from a group, and that I could have selected fields to export. Saving those few seconds of not reading the instructions cost me an hour of manually purging the people and fields that I didnt want. Its a fantastic app. Does what it says it does, which is what I needed. (I am familiar with csv files, which helped!) The Preferences makes it simple and easy. Thanks!

one messed up CSV

This app did not create a usable CSV. The records are all jumbled and it combined all of the contacts into a single record. Completely useless (yes I know how to use a CSV). Also will only export the entire contacts list so even if it did make a good file it would take a lot of sorting to make a clean partial list. Glad it was only a buck!

Waste of time and money

A waste of 99 cents. I tried to export a Group of contacts to a CSV file and then upload to MailChimp. Nothing but “syntax errors” time after time. There’s a slightly more expensive app that works much better…should have gone for that one at the get-go.

Focused and Functional - Good Value

This app did exactly what it said it would do. Like many useful apps, no bells and whistles but it does a good job and allows for selective group exports: a great feature.

Worked as advertised

Seemed to work fine for me. I ran the program, it sensed my various email lists inside Mac Mail, I chose the one I wanted and exported to a file. Opened it directly in Excel, ran the excel menu choice for "Data - Text to Columns" and it gave me the usual choices of helping Excel understand what the delimters were, and boom. 10 minutes later I had imported the email addresses into Mail Chimp. Couldnt be easier. Did what it said it would do, with no issues. And it was fast. Running Mac Pro with OS X 10.8.5 and 16 GB RAM.

Exported the records i needed from my Address book to a CSV….period

This little app saved me a load of headache and about $30. It does it’s one little trick very well. exported my Mac AddressBook/Contacts group out as a CSV file so i could import it into Excel. My guess is that the people who had issues, either wanted it to do more than it promised, or don’t really know what to do with a CSV file anyway. This will NOT convert from address book to some other contact format. But it WILL export your contacts into a generic csv file you can then play with or clean up in your favorite text editor. Well worth every one of my 99 pennies. **tip: I was origianlly trying to Convert a VCard file with 150 contacts to CSV. Couldn’t do it directly, so I imported the vcard file into a new group in address book. Then used AB2CSV to export as CSV. worked like a charm (the way it was supposed to).

Works Great

Does EXACTLY what it says it does - no more, no less. Those who have complained should learn exactly what a CSV file is, how they work, and how to use them.

Huge time saver

This worked perfectly. It took 1 minute to figure out how to use the program. After export I “import”ed the CSV file into Excel. Done….thanks!!

Solved my head scratcher

Using AB2CSV, I exported a group from Address Book to CSV format, then imported into Excel. This 99 cent app did the trick in a jiffy. Thank you for being so smart, Antonio! Best regards. By the way, there is another method I discovered while browsing Apple Support. Open iWork Numbers and drag a group directly from Address Book to a blank spreadsheet window. The problem, though, is that you only get four fields (last name, first name, phone and email) transferred unless you first set up a header in the spreadsheet with the names of the extra fields you want. AB2CSV is faster and less complicated – it transfers all fields.

Does one thing and does it well!

Simple app with the necessary options to export Contacts information. Apple should have included this in OSX, but Antonio to the rescue.

Ron

As far as I can tell, this app does exactly what it is advertised to do. My problem is that my Address Book is a mess, which quickly became obvious upon perusing the AD2CSV output. Once I get my addresses cleaned and standardized, I believe this app will serve my purposes well.

It Works!

The program worked as advertised. Perfect!

Great!

This is a very useful app. Highly recommend it!

Brilliant program

Forget shareware. Get this amazing, simple, inexpensive and accurate app. I’ve just spent the better part of an hour trying to figure out how to convert a bunch of vcf files to csv. I finally searched the app store and found this one. It worked in 2 seconds. Thank you, Developers!

Its wonderful

Helped me to export all my contacts with one click. Simple UI and high quality. Thanks!

Flawed with proof below in Review description

It creates a binary file. I have no idea why the developer would do this. Its probably a simple mistake. Proof…dont take my word for it. Do this yourself if you already own it. 1. Export your AB2 file. 2. Open terminal 3. do this in your terminal: > more <yourfilename>.csv Terminal will tell you its a binary file. If you import into Numbers and then export it then it works but why not just do it right in the first place?
