AB2CSV App Reviews

JUNK

This program may work for someone trying to transfer everything, or a group, into a CSV file, but for trying to do a mailing and adjusting accordingly, this is a clunky, useless, and non-user friendly method of doing so. DO NOT GIVE THIS APPLICATION ANY MORE OF YOUR MONEY, Ive been ripped off!!!!

Disappointed

Instructions appear simple. Read all and tried to export in both file formats. No luck….. each time, after I choose an export location I get a “nothing to export” on the AB2CVS block. Using Imac Mavericks latest. I ended up by using a simple method from inside Contacts to do the same thing and exported/imported to gmail with ease. I think I wasted .99 :-(

Works Like a Charm!

This app did exactly what I needed it to do…translated my address book v-card file into an editable csv in one click. Why Apple doesn’t support this function I have no idea. Great job! Love it!

What’s all the noise? Works great.

On 10.9.2, exported 832 addresses perfectly. Thank you.

Simple conversion tool.

This is a good app

Excellent app !

This app is my hoped tool, do what it said.

Didn’t work - nada!

I downloaded this app, read the instructions, went through the steps - it doesn’t separate out the fields so no other softtware can import it correctly. Junk….

Limited use

It seems theres no way to select which .abbu file one wishes to convert. From what I see from the conversion results, it converted the existing .abbu file in the Library>Application Support>AddressBook folder. I am unable to select the .abbu file I wish to convert. Looks like I just donated 99 cents to Apple.

Did not work for me

I have a lot of contacts but the app ran for 2 days and no contacts. It seems to work for others but it did not work for me. The support page is worthless. I would like to get my money back.

Inconsistent format of exported phone numbers

When AB2CSV exports phone numbers, there are various formats that come out, such as: 1. with area code in parentheses (301) 999-9999 2. dashes only 301-999-9999 3. no parens or dashes 3019999999 The format is caused by the way Contacts stores a phone number. Internally, the number stays exactly as you enter it, despite what Contacts shows in the display. The APP just exports whatever is in the Contacts database. Except for this oddity (caused by Apple), the app works quite nicely.

Doesn’t work for me

If you are running Yosemite, you have to give the application permision to access to the Contacts app. That is done in System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> Privacy. The author was very responsive in helping me through email.

Thumbs up - worked exactly as advertised

Downloaded, ran it, and got a perfect CSV file within 10 seconds. What more could I ask for? Thank you for writing this app!

App does not OPEN properly in latest MacO/S, 10.10.1

I downloaded AB2CSV from the Apple iTunes Store. I used OPEN to launch AB2CSV The app asks where you want to store the resulting file, CHOOSE DESTINATION FOLDER, so I selected my DESKTOP. Then the app asks to access my Contacts, to which I said NO, because I was going to use the VCF file that I have already created by EXPORTing my Contacts from Apple’s Mail to a VCF file on my DESKTOP. The app starts over, but now it never gets to the screen asking to access my Contacts, but instead shows this error message: “Nothing to Export" So, I deleted AB2CSV and re-downloaded it from the Apple iTunes Store. Same problem, it never gets to the screen asking to access my Contacts, but instead shows this error message: “Nothing to Export” Some bug having to do with the newest O/S is my guess.

Buyer BEWARE!

THIS APP IS A WASTE OF MONEY AND DOES NOT WORK AS DISCRIBED! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS APP.

Does what it says

Very clunky User Interface. You need to go to “preferences” to perform actions that usually would be on the home screen. Once you go to the support site to figure out why the UI is so counter-intuitive you will find that it does work. Virtually all of the one stars are from folks who couldn’t figure out the interface. It seems that he developer could make everyone love it if he added about 7 words to home screen, but instead he chooses to admonish people for not figuring out how to use it. Tip:If the home screen had a choice 1) convert all contacts and 2) convert selected contacts and groups, then most complaints would go away. But on the other hand, it is only 99 cents and it does work.

Save your money. Does not work

I purchased this to convert my Mac Contacts to a .CSV file. It simply does not work. It cannot find my contacts. The documentation is very poor too.

couldn’t get it to work

couldn’t get it to do what he claims it would do. The user interface is less than desirable. Tried to take contacts file on my passport for mac drive and write it to another file on that drive and it looks like it is running but never completes the task or gives any reason or status of progress! Have to kill the task!

AB2CSV converter ver..2.4.2

I ran this on my Yosemite OS X 10.10.1 desktop, and it totally lost track or what it was supposed to do and created a huge mess that was not useable, at all. I emailed the seller, but got no reply.

Diacritics problems

Nice little app, GUI simple but fine. But: it destroys letters with diacritics to non-readable glyphs, both with Unicode 16 or 8 settings while transfering a file to Windows from OS X. It would be great to add third possibility: remove diacritics (chnage č>c, ť>t etc. automatically).

Worked like a charm, but...

wish the pics and other info had also been exportable. I exported my AppleMail contacts to .csv to upload to Office 365, and all I got was the name and email. No phone numbers or addresses or other info appeared. Still, better than nothing.
